| Dancing Booboo |
|
|
I noticed quite a few times now that Booboo does this little dance... He dances around and spins in circles spreading away his wings. At the same time he makes a clicking/vibrating sound with his beak. It sounds like a buzzer.
I'm no expert by any means but doesn't it look like a mating dance?
He always dances around Papug. Papug is never impressed by Booboo's dancing and either ignors him or pretends that he wants to bite him in the foot to chase him away.
Any ideas what my little Booboo is up to? |

Yes you are exactly right! That is the mating dance... you know how I know??? Because Hazelnut does the exact same thing right before he... ... ehm... right before he tries to "mate" on my head |

At least Booboo directs his affections at another bird
Pistachio never does that to me, but she does "mate" with her birdy tent all the time |

LOL... Shirin... Looks like your lbs are pretty desperate for mating. But instead of doing it with ehm... the tent and your hairdo, can't they just do it with each other?
Well... Papug is definitely not in the mood for mating. (S)He actually gets upset when Booboo starts dancing. I don't see any tiel-lb hybrids hatching any time in the future |

I have seen them mating with eachother a few times, but I think Pistachio is a boy too so their efforts have been fruitless. But funny thing, Pistachio is always on the bottom, so maybe she is a girl, I don't know
You've never seen Papug mating with a toy or soft thing? I think you have a giiiiiirrl |

Oooopsss... two boys?
No, I've never seen Papug mating with anything. As a matter of fact I've never seen Booboo mating either, he just dances
Although, now that I think about it... they both like to hide behind this flower pot on the top cabinet. Who knows what they are doing there?? Hmmm... Booboo actually jumps right into the flower pot... Maybe he wants to build a nest? I always chase him away from that plant because I'm worried that he may get poisoned. I think the spider plant is benign but who knows, better be safe than sorry. |

I'm pretty sure I saw the spider plant on the safe list.
Here's a video of a lovebird making love to a sock Now imagine Hazelnut dong that on my head!!! He has no shame!

Oh also, does Booboo try to feed Papug too when he's doing his little dance? Because Hazelnut does, he goes in circles and makes the little noises, and then he regurgitates and tries to feed me. |

The LB in that video definitely needs to get a room!
I've seen my 'tiel going at his rope perch many times before, but I've never seen a bird going at anything like the LB in that video |

Oh, that lb is really at it I've never seen Booboo doing anything even close to it. He just dances but does not try to mate with anything or anyone.
He does try to regurgitate and feed Papug. Sometimes he tries to regurgitate to him without doing any dancing. He doesn't actually throw up, nothing comes up his beak, he just makes the gesture of regurgitatin.
Papug remains unimpressed |

Cheeta, he does not dance everyday... It just happens once every few days or so. I will try to catch it on video if I can |

You know, it sounds a bit like what my sennie, Jennie does.
She's just a yr old, & she's been doing it off & on for the past several months, so I don't think it's a mating thing in her case.
It's real cute, she lifts her wings just slightly & makes a real soft cute little noise & does a little dance with her feet. It's quite like the behaviour I've seen in the wild baby birds in my yard when with their parents. |
