my lovebird only likes to sit on my shoulder! he hates sitting on my fingers for more than a few seconds and will attempt to jump on my head/shoulder after about 5ish seconds. he sometimes bites my fingers(not hard yet) if I try to get him to
not
jump on my shoulder. I guess it is because he likes my hair. he likes to cuddle up to it. I don't want this to develop into a serious problem(not sitting on my finger) so any advice would be appreciated on how to stop this behavior. I've only had him for 3 days and other than this he is doing fairly well. |

That's just lovebirds for you My lovebirds love sitting on my shoulder too, rather than on my hand. But I guess I don't see it as a problem. |

Can you do some step-up exercises with him? Do it in a small room away from his cage or any other distractions, and just have him step up from one finger to the next by gently pressing on his belly with your finger. And everytime he steps up, praise him, and after he's done a few steps successfuly give him a special treat that you know he loves but doesn't get regularly, like seeds. Do this everyday for about 10. He should get used to your hands soon enough. |

I just saw photos of Jazzy in your diary and my heart just melted!!! He's soooo precious! and wow, what a castle he has for a cage well done!
How's it going with Jazzy's step-up exercises? Is he more comfortable perching on your hand yet? |

UUmmm...I would like that though, my bird only likes to be on the floor walking!
PS: I don't want to sound rude at all, but...You should probobly have a more descriptive title for this thread. It helps everyone know what they will see when they click. Next time, please do. Thanks! |
