Hi Al,

I would just say - time, time and more time - I have justgot an 8 month old white capped Pionus and we are just stroking him/her and talking to him/her all the time.. Little and Often I would say...

I always Chat with "Pi" (my parrots name) especially when feeding him/her....

Slow and easy - they will come to you in their own good time, Do you know your birds history - i.e. do you know where he/she was? Mistreated?

Regards

Fi

Fi's right. Just be patient and give him a little space. He needs to become accustom to his new surroundings and become comfortable with them and then he will trust and be comfortable with you. Let him come out of his cage on his own. Has he been taught to step up? If he has not been taught this, it might be something to start with when he becomes more adjusted to his surroundings and with you. Put him in an area where he can see everything that is going on but not directly in the path of all the traffic in the house.Just let him observe. Don't push him right now to interact with everyone in the home unless he seems comfortable with it.Also allow him to get atleast 12 hours of undisturbed sleep a night. He will be much happier for it. Just relax and enjoy. You've only had him a month and it seems like things are going fine. If you have anyother questions, please ask. There are some wonderful people here to help you out. Welcome AJ. Karen
