Pi in the fish tank!!  Reply with quote

Hi all,
Had to tell my story, I saw the funniest thing yesterday. Don't think I have ever laughed so hard in years. Pilot my crazy lorikeet decided it was time for a swim. But not in his usual place. You guessed it - in the fish bowl. Shocked My housemate has a globe style fish bowl with about a 15cm wide opening at the top, and its about 30cm deep. We were kicking back watching TV and heard Pi jump onto the glass rim. I thought he was just looking at the fish but soon he was leaning over 'testing' the water with his toes. It looked hilarious because the shape of the bowl magnified everthing that was under water. Then he put his entire head under and looked like he was snorkling while standing on the edge. His head looked huge Laughing I could tell he wanted to get in but he was to scared because he couldn't touch the bottom, no matter how far he stretched his leg in. He got frustrated and ran around on his cage for a bit before his adventuous spirit got the better of him and he ran back and jumped right in Shocked his legs looked like a ducks, kicking around like crazy while he was ducking under and flapping around like mad. Then he jumped out, did a lap around the top of the cage then dived in again. He repeated this about 5 times before finally jumping out for a good preening session. Meanwhile I'm on the floor laughing. Laughing The poor fish didn't know what to do. It just sat near the bottom out of harms way. It seems to have survived its ordeal unscathered though. Do parrots normally jump in water this deep? I didn't think they would jump in anything unless they could touch the bottom but obvoiously not Wink I'm so mad that I had no batteries in my camera. Twisted Evil Hopefully he will do it again one day.

Fi, you're going to get some spanking for not having batteries in your camera! Oh would I have loved to see this!
I am glad that you were there to supervise, as I have no clue how it would be if he couldn't get out?

But boy, what a story!!! I can see that big head of his, LOL! And trappling like a duck! Did you remind him he's a parrot?! Not a rubberduck? LOL!
(Poor fish LOL!)

Smile When I was a kid I had budgies who always took baths in the aguarium. On occasions they would also entertain themselfs by picking on the fish Shocked
