| Possessed Feet or a Dream? |
|
|
I've asked alot of people if anyones birds do this and I have not found any bird that does what my Jibby does.
Usually at nap time or bedtime. Jibbys foot will pop out and he'll start waving it around and talking to it softly saying 'Jibby Hello, I love you' and then he scratches his head very slowly talking to himself. He then gets angry and growls at his foot and falls asleep with his foot holding his head.
I originally thought he might want a head scratch. But he lunges at me if I wake him up from his dreaming thing. Does your bird dream?
Or do I have a weird birdy that talks to his toes? lol. |

My Sun Conure does this!! it's so cute to watch! I guess they just want to comfort themselves much like a baby does by sucking it's thumb...
It's like they're being narcisistic and saying "Oh...I love myself" |

I have never seen that when asleep wow... but I have seen some parrots slowly massage their own necks with their foot, as if to substitute a human petting it! It is hilarious to see. I've never had a bird who did it, but I have seen some at bird stores. At first I thought only large birds did it, then I saw a Red Bellied parrot do it, and now you say your Ringneck, so I guess it can happen in any species! I don't think it is too common though.

Sonnie starts massaging his neck while he's awake, and slowly dozes off....it's cute...I have vid of it on YouTube...I'll track it down.
One of the 'Tiels I'm birdysitting does it...it's sooooo cute! I've never seen a small bird do it like that... |

I've seen many little birds do that. This includes little cockatiels. basically any birds that can hold their food with their feet can do that. one of my mum's rainbow lorikeet does it so well.. hehe.. I just love watching them. |
