| sennie biting HELP! please look |
|
|
My senegal of ten years has turned on me. I have been the only one to be able to touch him for 8 years, and i recently got a baby red belly who he is very fond of... he fluffs up to her but shes not sure how to deal with his behavior towards her. I have not been able to hold him without him biting me about an inch into my hand, finger, so on and so forth. He really hurts me bad. He may just want her, and be in a permanent breeding stage... it would break my heart to get rid of either of them. I really love him dearly, but now he even lunges at me through the cage Does anyone have anything to help me with this situation!!!? I cant get him out without a stick. Please help.
Also: my first thought: keep trying-persistence is key-this has been going on for three months.
second thought: let him age in his cage, taking him out every day with a stick, when i have the time and money, find a sennie mate for him. I dont want my red belly to get cozy with him, shes too nice and the only reason i got her was because i was the only one who could coax her out of her cage at the bird store.
third thought: sell him to a trustworthy breeder he can make babies for. I really dont want to do this but i was just brainstorming |

Sometime Sennies get like this. Its a phase for them. I have two that did the same thing to me. And they both did it around 8 or 9 I waited it out and they grew out of it. They are 13 and 16 now. I think that this is a problem a lot of Senegal owners run into.
He also might be jealous of the other bird |

this is not vomiting but mating behaviuor. he sees you as his partner and is feeding you. best thing to do is to ignore it and distract him with games or toys. he loves you a lot. that is why he bites you. he does not get the response he wants from you. it will pass, it is only hormones play with him, give him toys or teach him trics to keep him busy. |
