No need to apologize girl! That's what we're here for right? To share our knowledge and talk parrots So ask as many questions as you like
Lets start a new topic about the bathing, I will split this topic and put it under its own heading. |

Ok, so on this topic I can really say that I feel your pain My African Grey also HATES showering! And with a spray bottle, well forget it! She will scream and run.
Since Sqwarky is afraid of the spray bottle, stop using it. Does he take baths on his own, if you offer a big enough bowl that he can get in? Sometimes running the vacuum will trigger bathing. Sounds strange, but it's true for almost all birds Something about the sound of it must remind them of water. Or maybe it reminds them that they're dirty jk.
As far as showering, one thing that I find helps with my grey is that for a few days in a row I will take her in the shower with me, but not get her directly wet. Just let her sit there and watch me enjoy taking a shower and playing with the water. It helps if you act like you're having a lot of fun. Then on the 5th or 6th day I will slowly let the water touch her. The idea is to let him see you having fun under the water, and soon enough he'll feel jealous and want to join in. But of course I don't recommend even attempting to do this, until you have the biting under control.
Definitely don't use the spray bottle anymore. This could be one of the reasons he's scared of you. Once he stops biting and starts stepping up and warming up to you, then you can slowly start introducing him to the shower. In the mean time just offer him a wide bowl with shallow water that he can get in. Just put it on top of his cage, and I'm pretty sure he will take a bath on his own. Try the vacuum thing too. |

| Bath time.... |
|
|
I keep a plastic tub of water on top of choo choos cage..kind of small to medium..I guess...a round one..about twice a week he will get into the bowl a little at a time until he is totally soaked...I tried the spray bottle thing at first and he hated it...now he decides when to take his own bath...and he shakes and shivers until he s dry... |

Robin, my 13 year old Red Bellied hates baths. I never used to bathe him long ago when he was younger, so I guess he never got used to it. Now, I just spray him every now and then. He still hates it, but he tolerates it. He also tries to bathe in his covered water dish, but it doesn't work His feathers seem to stay in nice clean condition longer than the girls though.
With the girls... I just turn on the shower, put them on my arm as I stand outside the tub, and bathe them. They don't love it, so they just stand there, but I manually lift their wings, and turn them different ways to get wet all over. |

why dont you try the bowl of water on the top of his cage? you never know when they want to take a bath..so you just need to change the water...everyday..and leave it sit on top... |
