I have had my Opaline budgie for just over two months now and he is four months old. He wasn't hand reared and is proving difficult to tame, especially as he has such a nasty bite!
The main problem I am having is that just over the last couple of weeks he has started screaming and screaching at the top of his lungs and it lasts all day. He is so loud with it that my next door neighbour asked it if was an African Grey that we were keeping!
I don't know how to keep him quiet. He gets an awful lot of attention and toys to keep him occupied when we are out but I can't stop this overly loud shouting. Can someone pleeeeeeezzzzzeeee help???!!!

He sounds like a Utility Bird. (Raised by the Parents) like a wild bird. I am not a bird expert but. something is brothering him. He may not be accustom to all the fine things he is getting. He may need a buddy. He has been around other bird all his life and now he is alone and is calling for anybody to come and help him. But if you do that you may get a quite bird but he will more then likely bond with the other bird. Have you tried treats. Find out what he likes most in this world. Then never ever give him any of that again execpt from your hand. He will soon learn that you mean him no harm and start to bond with you. It may take a while so have patence...

Re: The Scream...
That's a nasty problem indeed. How do you respond to the screaming? Do you give him feedback?
