How do your parrots react on visitors? Do they welcome them or are they too shy? Or...??

Jennie is quite unsocial Crying or Very sad she will act very defensive, no one will dare approach her. She is OK with my hubby, as long as I place her on his hand, but she will not step up for him.

Manu gets quite excited. At first he may be some what startled, or scared of strangers, but he is very curious & with a few words & proper approaching, he is quite good - normally.

Little Poppy LOVES people & attention! As long as it's from the other side of his cage. He doesn't like to be handled at all, but he begins non-stop whistling & chattering when people visit.

Uri would much rather hide in the back of his cage and not come out unless it's just us home.

Sera likes to show off and throw her little crest up when greeting new people so they get all nervous. She'll test them to see if she can scare them and if she does, then forget it. She won't go near them!!

Oskar...well....he makes his angry noise...and if anyone tries to touch him...he lunges. Crying or Very sad
he's not a big stranger lover...he really only likes me...despite efforts to get him to be friendly with the rest of the family.

Sonnie...the second the door opens and it isn't me standing there...he goes BANANAS!!! screaming and freaking out....very loudly too.... Crying or Very sad

Qwill will go to anyone. if there are too many people, though, he gets a little nervous and flies (or tries to anyways) away.....

Aiden...he's the lover of the flock.....if you look at him. he wants you to hold him...that includes strangers, family members.....cats.... Laughing he's the only one I can really trust away from the house.....he loved PetSmart....and I took him to my moms work...he saw tons of people that just ooed and awed over him!!! I think his first words will be "pretty bird!" because that's what everyone says when they see him.... Laughing

Pete will bite the dickens out of them Twisted Evil , scream and than laughs.. Sad
He also will try to attack babies..He trys to fly or walks to my grandson and I believe he would hurt him. I have to put him in his cage when children are visiting. That isn't the best thing , but it is the safest for all .
I wish he was more friendly with others,
Sometimes I have to remove him out of the room when we have guest because he screams something awlful like he is getting hurt.
Pepper I do not know yet,,no vistor..yet since we have had her Rolling Eyes

Mine love visitors. They all have learned from day one that visitors mean many many goodies and attention. However, they are always free to leave (as they are all flighted) when it gets too much for them.

I have a little anecdote for this:

In my tropical house (where the birds live in when I am out), I needed new floor drains to be installed. The old ones had to be removed and the floor opened up with a Jackhammer. I was, of course worried that the birds would completely panic from all that ruckus plus strange men. So I opened all the doors from the tropical house to the living area, so that the birds could get away, before the work started.

So the workers start operating the Jackhammer. Basically the whole building is virbating witht he noise. What do my the featherered fiends do? They were all crowding around the construction to see what was going on. And when the good viewing spots were taken (there were after all 18 of them) they landed on the poor workman trying to do his job. Luckily, he had a very good sense of humor and thought it was funny.

Yeah, my two Sennies love visitors. They canīt wait to "say hello" to them, even if the visitors are totally strangers.

Lovebirds love visitors and will fly to them and sit on their sholder or head. Keesh Meesh loves visitors too as long as they pick him up and give him cuddles. Bunny is apprehensive when visitors come and if they try to pick her up or pet her, she will bite them, but as long as they leave her alone she doesn't care.

Tilda is very nervous around visitors. He will sit on anyone's hand but will stand very still and suck all his feathers.

Lily will fly and land on anyone's head. She is always curious of new people. She will sit on anyone's hand but wont let them touch her.

um...guess I cannot upload photos into a thread - I wanted to put one in of a worker on a ladder five meters up in the bird house with Scarlett (female GW) "supervising". When her Mate joined and decided to actively help...I think he got a little nervous, but was manly about it Smile.

(I'll put the photo on my HP or diary)
