Hello. I'm up late, aren't I?
Mummy and I like the sound of you all getting out there and building us mischief bundles' an aviary or two.!!
There are some amazing designs out there too. And who said you HAD TO HAVE a proper aviary? Was there some law just made that said you can't design your own? NO! I didn't think so!!
We found a lady who's built an aviary using a carport as an example! There are many designs of marque tents, canopies, conservatories... allsorts for you to get your designer heads around!! Who wants a boring factory churn-out? Not me, haha
If you feed 'costco carport' into the address line on your websearch toolbar, you will find the one we are on about! It used to be number six on the page, now it's number eight.... (if u r in the UK it's number you can read and see the pictures of what that lady did for yourselves! Even if you take the idea and do it cheaper with stuff you have around you, who's to say that's wrong?? So if you keep them eyes peeled you can get all sorts of ideas!
Mum's doing me one with heras fence panels.... NICE
600cubic feet minimum. Low budget. Amazin'!!
We may even chat some gas workers up and get some of the blue or yellow plastic tubing and make a domed roof for it... don't know yet! While we are wainting for the weather to improve a tad, all sorts of ideas are going through Mum's head...so I haven't a clue what I'll end up with!!
But whatever it is, it'l be good, cos she's a perfectionist.. (that's her downfall as far as I'm concerned....it's a nuiscance! )
Anyway, we've got a new camera so we are going to be taking some photos to add to the diary.... that should be a laugh!! |

The way things are going at our house, we won't need an avairy..... What we really need is a house, we already have an Aviray.... |

You got that right.......the one thing we can totally agree on. The birds rule our roost. |

Oh George! Your aviary sounds like it will be really great and I bet you'll love it!
The aviary design we're going to use will be a little lean on aviary off the side of the house..
I don't know what to use for the bars however! I would hate to have one of my babies slip thru the bars and fly away! I'll have to keep looking..I'm also worried about the toxic metals..
I have a book called "Building an Aviary" and its all about building aviaries. they have a lean on aviary illstration and instructions..I'll scan it on sometime
Yeah, John and Carrie..PASO (parrot shelter) has their birds ALL OVER their small house and they are out of the cage 24/7, so they are fundraising to build a huge aviary for the birds! LOL! |

Luke - what a terible thing to happen - so sorry.
I have heard that some people use 2 layers of mesh - the outside is coarser to stop large animals & the inside screen is finer to stop small birds/rodents & disease. Then you have to consider the species of bird too & the strength of their beaks.
It will be a challenge & I look forward to this aviary & anything anyone has to add about safety. |
