| an AVIARY!!! oh yeah!! |
|
|
We think its about time to re-build that tiny 1000 yr old shed in the yard, and when we build a new one it will have a little aviary! If I'm very lucky, we we'll fill it with birds!!!!! Well, little ones If we can't, it will just be a place for Cheekie, petrie or figaro to hang out.
The bad is that it might take some time for us to get around to it
Well, at least I got a maybe, and we're building one for sure, that maybe is for more birds. |

Gee, you took my thunder.......
Carrie and I are in the planning stages to build an Avariy ourselfs. But we were faced with the problem resale value. Who would want an Avariy in thier back yard of the new house? So we plan on building a Green House. Then we would avoid the problem of fresh vegs in the winter and when the weather premits, the birds can go out and play in a safe enviroment. Anyway that is what we are planning to do hopefully in the near future.

Good news indeed young lady, I know that you will be a good mom to any and all. One problem How long do you think a "Small Bird Room" will last before you fill it up with all the birds I know you are going to get...

yes lol . Since I can't have "big birds" yet, I guess I'll just fill it with budgies, tiels, lovies, plets or something. Or maybe a linnie, a quaker, a caique, a hahn's macaw... |

I don't want to burst any bubbles - but be careful who's in the aviary unsupervised. I know many peoople have birds of different sizes together but often they don't get along & a little guy can suffer.
My husband & I have talked about a bird room - maybe a not too sunny sun-room or a green house sounds great.
It's wonderful that your parents are behind you in this. A small Too is still a Too.
Hope it doesn't take too long - but it will give you time to design the thing & research what is needed. One thng I noticed while reading about aviaries is having an internal water/wash-up area & perhaps a washable with drain floor. I've seen them with an interior window as well - like TV.

Hi, be very carefull about leaving H/R birds in aviarys, i put my h/r tiel in my aviary to hang out in the warm weather, her leg got pulled out.( by a magpie i suspect)I rushed her to the vet but she died half-way through her operation to close the wound. Maybe it was for the best i dont no what kind of life she would have had wiv one leg.
I was devistated, she was my first bird and i will now never leave my birds outside without close supervision.
Maybe double wire or sumin??
