Bar Spacing for Senegals  Reply with quote

I am looking for a new cage for Jasmine and found a nice one with 1" bar spacing. I know that 3/4" is recommended for Senegals but I was wondering if anyone on here knows personally whether or not a 1" bar spaced cage works for senegals.... hope to hear from you soon, thanks!

Hi,

In my openion, 1 inch would be pushing it. They could stick thier heads through and get stuck. But the breed dose not make any differecne it is the size of the bird. Use your own judgment on this. The bigger the cage the happier the bird will be. Just be careful about a 1 inch. I would haste using that cage with an Amazon.

I would not put a sennie in a cage with 1" bar spacing ... they could very likely stick their head through the bars .... 3/4" bar spacing is the recommendation for a senegal

I wouldn't try it personally.. Chances are he might get his head between those bars anyway, then not being able to retreat it..

yeah...I would try for another bar spacing. Smaller. Like John said, the bigger the cage the better..but the bar spacing is the probelm, and what keeps us from buying macaw cages for our sennies Razz

Perhaps you can get your hands on an aviary with stainless steel mesh? (I hope this is the right name for it?)

Sue you might be using the right words, an Aviray general implies a flight size cage/encloser, and I would want stainles steel mesh, but the cost is to much for the avarage person. General most flight Avairys are build with the best they can afford..

Hope this helps..
