Hi Shells
Linus has the bird sitter DVD. It is a video of many diferent parrots in a large avairy. There are music tracks and natural bird sound tracks.
linus seems to watch the video. There is one point where an Eclectus is vocalizing and Linus always joins in! It is like he recogonizes the voice of another ekkie.
Usually I put the DVD on and play a selection of jazz music. If the bird sound track is playing for more than a half hour or so Linus becomes very loud. i think he is tryng to talk to the birds on the DVD

Do they have toos on it? I wonder how Picasso will react, he's not a bird lover he attacks pictures of birds and screams at the ones that he sees flying. |

I'd never heard of that dvd. I'll have to check it out, although my birds never react to anything on TV |

Hey
I bought the dvd a while back from Hartman Aviary, and Steve Hartman was very nice and sent it to me without the extra postage to Australia. He is the one that developed the dvd.
There are alot of Cockatoos on it, and when I first showed it Apollo, he didn't seems interested, but soon enough was interested in all the noises in them. He picked up the macaw call from the DVD.. hehe... He has his crest up at selected parts of it, but sometimes he just doesn't care... But I can tell that he's constantly listening to the bird chatters in the dvd. He doesn't care much for the music track, kinda just ignores the whole dvd. I think it's the sounds that attract apollo more than the actual images... though he gets quite fasinated when the macaws comes on... especially the hyancith...
This is what Apollo looks like five minutes into watching the birdsitter DVD
Here is another shot of Apollo watching it

He he he, that's funny Cheeta, maybe he thinks the macaws are a threat to his king status
I also thought about getting the series "the life of birds" so I would have something we could watch together. |

thanks Cathy. Apollo is hilarious when he's watching the dvd
Go to
Hartman Aviary
to check it out. They are the ones that put the dvd together. Although I think you might be able to look around for a cheaper price if you want to. I bought it from Steve Hartman as he was the only one that was kind enough to send it oversea and also absorbed the extra postage cost to send it to me as we don't have it here in Australia. A very nice guy.
When you get to the website, go to the 'store' tab. which is second from the bottom on the left hand green menu. |

Thanks for the link Bih! When hubby gets home from work, I think I'll go ahead & order it, rather than shopping around trying to find it cheaper somewhere! |
