| Cage for cockatiel.. |
|
|
Hi guys,
Well, IŽve been thinking a lot and found this cage:
http://www.americas-pet-store......d/632.html
and I was thinking in maybe in the future convince my mum to let me have some cockatiels and buy this cage to keep them...but here are the questions..
How many can i have in that cage
Is it ok to have cockatiels in that cage
Any one recomend other cage big enough for 6 cockatiels
Obs: I live in a apartament in Brasil so you probably know that i have to keep quiet bird and i found out that this is the best bird to keep..., and is expensive to buy other type of bird...cheapest are Lovebird and cockatiels..
Thank you

Douglas;
The Cage has 5/8" bar spacing, Some Tiels could get there heads stuck. You might want to find a cgae with smaller Bar Spacing, 1/2 or smaller would be better..

I agree that the bar spacing on that particular cage would be too big for 'tiels.
You might want to take a look at the flight cages on the site, there were some nice looking ones that I think would be appropriate & even less expensive. |

Just an addition, male cockatiels can be very noisy when they sing, so it does depend on how thick your walls are. I enjoy hearing my male cockatiel sing his little heart out, but your neighbours might not... |

First of all, I have to say cockatiels aren't quiet at all... they are actually quite loud and noisy at times... I have two male tiels that lives at my parents house, and boy when they get going, they get going!!
and as with the two cages you posted, I woudln't even put one cockatiel in there the first one. may be one budgie , but even that is pushing it. The second cage is ok for ONE cockatiel, no more than that. and also, I wouldn't get the dome top... that actually does cut down on the space inside since it curves downwards. try looking for a rectangular shaped cage. that's the best I think it my opinion.
A cage you wanna look for should be longer rather than taller (like that first cage, that's useless because it's too tall... as they say, birds aren't helicopters.. they fly across back and forth, not up and down)... |

I think it's kind of hard to find cages that are wider than they are tall with proper bar spacing.. But I do think that you should look for a cage that's at least 20 inches wide at minimum, for one, possibly 2 'tiels.
For 6, you would need more like an aviary for them, I would think. |

bird cages like these are becoming very popular around here in Australia, so they are actually fairly common in the shop.
