Cage suitability for Senegal parrots  Reply with quote

Hello, I was wondering if you could advise on the suitability of the following for a pair (non breeding) of senegal parrots.
The cage dimensions are 36" x 24" x 69" (internal) with 1" bar spacing. I have heard from a number of sources that 1" is too much for a senegal , but from others I have heard that it would be absoloutely fine? The only large cages I can find have 1" bar spacing!

Boy, that's the trouble with finding larger cages, they usually have larger bar spacing for larger birds.
I don't know ... the spacing of my sennies cage is 3/4 in. I have put her in my macaws old outdoor cage & she gets right out between the bars, but the spacing is 1 1/4 inch. So I really don't know what to tell you. As I recall, I have read sites that say 3/4 in is recommended, but 1 in might work.

I think I'm having trouble here with your system.. Smile I'm using the metric system (not inches) so this is kind of hard for me.
But, if I'm correct, Zazu is in a cage with 1 inch barspace. Iago does well in it. But he has a big head!

And I think Jennie is kind of the small size for a senegal, & she's only 7 months old now.
