I'm thinking of getting my bubs happy huts for sleeping. Its very cold here lately!
I've seen some IRNs with huts and they seem to adjust well. Jibby loves to make tunnels in blankets and clothes on the floor.
How can I get them to change from sleeping on a perch to sleeping in a tent/happy hut??
Will this encourage breeding behaviour? Because I don't want more hormones! |

Well, I don't think there's anything you can do to make him sleep in there, rather than a perch. I suppose you can place the hut higher than all the perches in the cage and that might get him to sleep in there. But really, just let him use it as he pleases. My lovebirds had a happy hut and they sometimes slept in it, and other times they preferred to sleep on a perch.
As far as encouraging breeding behaviour... well lets just say the reason my lovbirds don't have theirs anymore is because they wore it out and broke the strings by humping it too much So in my birds, yes it did encourage nesting behaviour. |

Hmmm I don't know if it'll encourage breeding behavior. If it will I would remove the hut. Wheezy & Scuttle (still young!) are doing fine with their tent.
Iago however can get quite excited. |
