KingsCages "Shhh" product  Reply with quote

Have you heard about the kings cages new "Shhh" product?

quote:
"stops uncontrolled squawking without impairing your bird's natural singing or speaking abilities. FDA registered"

I mean, its a bird!! It makes noise!! KingsCages is aiming for people who buy cockatoos on a whim!!

If the bird makes noise, it wants to tell you something, like "Feed me!" "I want water!" "let me out of my cage!" and so on.

I think FDA registered means they fill out a form, and send it into the FDA. I don't think FDA cares.

Also, I've heard KingsCages has a no bite formula out on the market.

Let me quote someone from another bird forum...

quote:
Rediculous isn't it.....not as bad as the miracle no bite formula that's out on the market though....apparently you give it your bird once a day & it stops them from biting & being aggressive......it's made of all natural herbs, vitamins & minerals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean come on how stupid do these people think that we are?!?!?

KingsCages turns out all these dumb "remedies"..pluck no more..shhh!..and bite no more..they are aiming for the person who buys a bird on a whim. The bird bites, screams, plucks and since they know nothing about birds, they buy all that stuff trying to help it. Rolling Eyes

sorry..I just had to rant a bit.. Sad

They're certainly targeting the very-little-knowledge audience of parrot owners.. Thank heavens they don't have a book that promotes their silly products!

Hmmm I must admit.. I have tried the pluck no more.. But it didn't work.

What does 'on a whim' mean?

Sue,

'on a whim'
When you decide to do something that you had not plan on doing, Like when you go shoping and you see a pair of shoes you just got to have, you would buy them on a whim....

There are all kinds of things out there like this, they have a saying for this kind of product.. "Snake oil" **. You really have to watch what you give your birds. Some of these products not only do no good but could hurt your bird. There are reasons for a bird to bite, pluck and scream. Please try to find the reason, don't just treat the sympones (sp).

**For those who don't understand this reference. Durning the western days, there were traveling con men. Who would hit town and sell a brew of herbs and alcohal with promies of cureing everything including snake bits. So it got then name "snake oil"..

Ahhh thanks for explaining that to me John!

I have tried a lot of things with Zazu. I have been to several avian vets, avian behaviorist and it didn't work. Sad It's not that I expected this to work, I just wanted to give it a try.
At this time I have kind of accepted that he's just a plucker. I tell myself it's more like nailbiting: A bad habit.

Ok I'm going to point you to a website about toos. I know that there are a lot of people out there that have toos and that want toos. This is a site that tells what "they" don't tell you about toos and why you shouldn't have them as pets. Please do not jump down my throat. If you have a too then that is you and I will not condem you for it so please don't condem me for my opinion. This is just something for you to look into and understand why toos pluck and mutilate themselves.

I put the wrong website. Sorry.

Oh and Sue I am in no way saying that you treat your toos the way that some of the rescue stories on this site say.

I know that you don't!!! It just gives you answer as to why these things happen.
