Old/new cage move  Reply with quote

Hi There Smile
We bought a new cage for my CAG on saturday, I was just wondering how long it usually takes to move them from their old cage to the new one without causing too much stress? I guess it depends on the bird? My CAG is pretty good with new toys and things being introduced. She spent the day exploring on sunday and but I didnt force her to stay through the night. Though might be a bit much Rolling Eyes
Although last night she was eating in her new (very beautiful much bigger Very Happy )cage so i let her spend the night.
Hope it wasnt too soon Confused

I don't think it was too soon Wink If she's not flying away from it and eating in it, then she's comfortable with it. My Grey, if she sees something she's affraid of, like a new toy, she always flies away from it, or leans away from it.

Each bird is different.

Sounds like your little one did great. My G2 could care less about new things....as long as it's not natural wood (like manzanita perches or such). My Sennie is usually pretty good with things and took to his new cage like a champ. He climbed right in and found his favorite perch!

Like everyone said.. it's ok... when I got a new cage for my birds, I just put them in there, my budgies all have their companions, so I guess that made it easier for all of them when move to a new cage...
My cockatoo, was instantly on all his new toys and wouldn't come out of the new cage when I was still decorating it for him, so he was in the new one that very night. no problem there. Smile it's all good.Smile
