| Paper towel rolls and Zinc! |
|

I was a bit shocked to read in the Harrisons booklet that paper towel rolls contain Zinc! Does anyone know anything more about this, Pico loves to chew them up, are all cardboard rolls the same? |

I believe I had heard some of this before.. that or the perfumes in TP were not good for them. So I can't verify that one for you, but I know that I do not give my Fids ANY paper rolls even though I get unscented TP. I guess I got funny about it after I read SOMETHING about them. I'm just too old to remember what! LOL Sorry Joti |

I saw that too. I wish I knew if all rolls had zinc or not. Is it in the glue? I find it odd that zinc is in TP rolls!

Yes I wonder that too, I checked out info on the cardboard rolls you can buy specifically for parrots and one said they were FDH free, that is formaldehyde so presumably that couls be used in compressed cardboard too like MDF. Really annoying not knowing what is safe. Pico loved chewing them and would keep him busy for ages, a nice cheap and easy source of toy! I will have to try and fins an alternative now I guess, not worth taking any chances. Will keep you posted if I find out more. |

Yeah, you're right, it's just not worth taking the chance. Manu has played with a couple of rolls, but then I too read something about the glue, so have not given him any since |

Yes it is found in the glue mainly. They are non toxic glue being used as well, but I'm not too sure how you'd find out which one they use really. |
