| Safe Wire |
|
|
I am making large bird toys. I have a male Eclectus and soon a green winged Macaw. I am having trouble finding stainless steel wire. What other kinds of wire would be safe? The store bought boing I have is defineatly not stainless steel, it is grey and dull.
Thank You

I wouldn't run any risk with a greenwing macaw. They have powerful beaks and can easily chew chips off when a wire is coated.
I would say, stainless steel only.. |

Hi.
I found stainless wire at greyfeathertoys.com under they toy parts section. I have used it to make some toys for Linus, my Solomon island Eclectus.
Also, if you have a local hardware store (not some giant chain like Lowe's or Home Depot but a real hardware stiore) the people in such places are usually very friendly and willing to help. They are often willing to special order an item for you if you ask.
I agree with Sue, Stainless steel is the way to go.
Hope this helps,

Try jewelry making/craft stores. firemountaingems.com is the only place I know of offhand..
Hope that helps... |
