Toys I made  Reply with quote

I wasn't sure if this should be posted here or in the creative forum, so I appologize if this is wrong. Embarassed

Anyway here are some bird toys I made. The one on the left with the green bell I bought, I just added the fabric strips.

The three on the top row are smaller out of the cage toys. The rest are for hanging in the cage. Nothing too specail, but this is my first try.
What do you think?

Shocked OMG! What are you talking about nothing too special, they're GREAT! I love the colours! How did you get the pink? Is there an actual food colouring that's pink, or did you have to mix colours? Where did you end up buying your parts from? e-bay? Very Happy If you had a business I would definitely buy from you.

Thank you so much everyone! The colors I got were pastels. Some of the pink was also supposed to be peach, but I think I let it soak too long! The food coloring also was for cake icing, I didn't realize that until I got home. But I liked the colors anyway. I got all my parts from Wal-mart (a department store chain in the US) they have a bit of everything.

I still don't know if my bird will be a boy or girl. I just thought the pastel colors would be something different. Smile The blue and purple didn't turn out like I was expecting, but I still like them. I was afraid they would be ugly before they dried, they looked kind of ugly while still wet!

If anyone would want me to make them some toys I don't mind at all. It just may be a while before I get more supplies.

LOL! This is true. I also have some small plastic animals for out of the cage play. I'm not sure he/she will like them, but I want to have a variety of things available.

We have Wal-Mart here too, what department did you find them in? I think I'll go look for them today. Did you get the food colouring from wal-mart too?

Yes, I also got the food coloring there as well. I got everything from the craft section.

In my Wal-Mart the craft section also has some wedding and cake supplies. The food coloring (icing coloring) was with that. The brand was Wilton. It came in a pack of four colors (blue, green, peach, and rose pink). There was also a pack of primary colors. Oh, and the icing color is a gel. It fully dissolves in hot water, but I was surprised it was a gel instead of liquid!

The wood pieces came in a bag. The wheels and spools were 15 piece to a bag. The flower pots were 6 to a bag (they already have a hole in the bottom!). And the small round beads were something like 60 to a bag.

I hope this helps! If you make some toys I want to see yours as well!

Your very welcome. Smile I bet your toys will look great!

The pictures of mine don't really show the green. The green and pink came out best for me. I mixed some blue and pink to try and make purple, but it is kind of more pinkish. And I think I needed to let the blue soak longer, the peach a bit less. Live and learn!

I went to the wallmart here, and they didn't have nearly as much pieces. Mainly different size balls, and plastic buttons, and I didn't find the food colouring. Maybe I'll find it at an actual cake store. Anyway, I made a couple of toys, one for Bunny and one for the lovebirds, and Bunny was terrified of his... Rolling Eyes he must've thought what's this ugly thing, I only want designer toys Laughing
