| a little annoyed with bird.com |

I take surveys for points through a number of online survey sites. I was very excited that I could use some of my points at bird.com... how cool that they support something for birds! I was especially impressed that their symbol was a budgie. So, I used 330 points for a $5 gift card.
Bird.com seems to have primarily very expensive items. However, I picked out a toy that I hoped the birds (even Dewey) may like which was on sale for $5. Then I found out that shipping is $7.95.
Not sure if I will buy the toy. I understand that their policy is free shipping for $50 and over. However, I can't afford to indulge in that right now.

Yeah, the shipping is what always gets me too - with everything I order on line! Who wants to pay more for the shipping than they paid for the item??!! Every once in ahwile you can find "specials", but like with them, you normally have to buy a rather pricey item to begin with. |

It sucks that shipping is so high, but it's not the websites fault, they're not the ones that make up the shipping rates. If they offer free shipping on an item that's over $50 they probably cover the cost of shipping because they would still be making a profit, but if an item is only $5 and they pay the shipping for you, then they not only haven't made any profit on the item, but also had to pay $2 out of pocket. |

I don't mind they charge something for shipping, but $7.95 seems extreem for one item. If it were a cage or something it would make sense...but I am ordering a toy.
Oh well... I just read through this list and the atrocities at other pet shops and now feel guilty for having posted about this :/ |

no don't feel guity! I know what you're saying. I was just saying it's not them that make up the shipping rates. They get a quote from the post office and that's what they charge. |

That's true, it's not the sites fault. But I would rather just go some where locally to buy things simply becuz of the shipping costs. |

That is rediculous to pay shipping costs that is more than the price of the item. It should be prorated for weight of the item. I wouldn't pay that either. |
