| Bird diapers |
|
|
I have bought those bird diapers. Honestly, Iago hates them. (My Senegal)
Zazu will tolerate me to put it on his back, but no further.
As they are both plucking a bit, I am cautious.
Iago plucks because of hormones..
Other people have other experiences with those diapers? |

Picasso wears his flightsuit, getting it on him is tricky, if I'm quick no problem otherwise he thinks it's something to chew. He chews at the shoulder straps a bit till he gets outside then he forgets about it. I would like to design a better one but they are so small and fiddly. Has anyone seen some other designs? Seems the age of the bird and its teperament has a lot to do with if they will tolerate them or not. Picasso is a teady bear you can do just about anything with him and the worst he will do is hiss. Where my lorikeets would draw blood without warning. |

LOL! Fingerless! Are they that fierce?
Iago was pretty distressed by the harnass. I had to fit it, for size.. (I could get another one) |

I have seen a feather tether but that's basically it. No other choices.. They seem a little 'hard' for little birds.
I thought the flightsuits were a little softer for the small fids, that's why I bought them! |

When I first had Emmie I tried the feather tether......she might be little but she is fierce, boy was she mad! For a few days. |

I think I'll order a flightsuit and see how my lorikeet goes with it. I'm hoping that he won't mind it since he's still young and learning and doesn't seem to mind being touched everywhere. It would certainly save me a lot of trouble (and a lot of laundry too!) |

my scally breasted lorikeet wouldn't have a bar of it, I got it on him ok but it was too big and he just rolled around trying to pull it off, I ended up giving it to a friend with a rainbow, I've been meaning to ask her how she got on. |

I want to get one and try it out. Once I get my Lovebird. He/she will be young and handraised, so hopefully he/she will get used to it relatively easily. The website for the Flightsuits make them seem like a good thing to have. I also like that you can get the tether for the harness function.

I'm not sure how these birdie diapers work, wouldn't they keep the poop in contact with the bird and make their feathers all dirty? |

they have a pouch that you line with a cotton wool disk that catches the poo away from the birds vent so it doesn't come in contact with the birds feathers |

Ya know, I've always thought those flight suit looks funny on the bird when they have it on because of that poop pouch!! hehehe... |

Sue, is that the same thing as the flight suit, or are there different kinds of birdy diapers? I've never tried them.
Wysteraya, I would suggest that you get one your new lovebird just as soon as possible when you get it. Because the younger they are when first introduced, the better they're going to accept it. I've heard that a lot of breeders are now getting birds into harnesses & flight suits while they're still weening, which is absolutely great! |
