How much does the little guy eat?  Reply with quote

All I've heard is A LOT!

I dont actually have my parrotlet yet. But I have been reading about him and one site said that he needs to eat the following daily:

- 2 fruits
- 3 veggies
- 1 green
- seeds seeds seeds
- grains
- and more

Ok that's fine and all. I can do that! But here's my question. If I give him a breakfast of fruits, how much do I give? Like measurement wise. And then if in the evening I give him some cooked mix, how much of that? Do I give him birdie bread ALSO or INSTEAD?

So much i dont know yet....

Hi s.live21,

Welcome to fluffies. Very Happy

A parrotlet is not a very big bird (in size). So he/she does not eat very much to. At the start give your bird a lot of food and just see for yourself how much the bird eats. I can tell you a very difficult story, but the above is much simpler . Wink

You will also the your parrotlet will have his/her own likes and dislikes. Just as human do. Laughing

I've heard! I am hoping he likes everything so I can buy a wide variety of fruits and vegetables - that I will end up eating to! lol Laughing

But even so, I just was wondering so I dont waste things and so I dont give to little. I'll guess I'll have to wait and see....

Hi s.live21,

You say that you don't like to waste things. I can tell you that your birds don't have that problem. Parrots are very messy eaters. Wait and see... Confused Wink

I can handle him throwing things around the floor and cage... thats part of eating and just how it is with lots of animals.

I just dont want to serve him too much that I end up throwing a majority away. I guess I'll just have to figure it all out when I get him.

Until then, the aviary sent me some pictures of him. He's still freakish but i adore him!!! Check them out if you with! Heart
