DID YOU KNOW  Reply with quote

That Pionus release a musky smell.....

It sounds horrible, but I think that it is lovely... When Pi is out and sitting on me I am always sticking my nose in Pi's feathers....

Cool

Is it the same as macaw-smell? It's lovely.. It's the best perfume EVER! Smile
My friend carried his macaw around the garden, then, a day later, he smelled his coat.
It smelled just great! Smile

I can understand why your nose is in Pi's feathers! Smile

LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one that goes sticking my nose in Apollo's feathers when he's out!! I just love the smell of him. Oh I also like to smell around his nares (??I think that's what they are called...the nose). Sad huh, but I think it smells nice. Embarassed Whenever I give him a kiss I'll take a little sniff. Yes it's sad.. Smile

I know guys, it is just such a terrific smell,

I was reading on another site that they release this smell when they are exicted... I guess Pi loves us cos he always smells - it is great...

Pi is so cute.... He was sitting on me this evening and just nibbling my lip and chewing my eye lashes - yes he is that gentle...

What a cutie Rolling Eyes LOL what am I like huh??

I love the smell of Picasso, (except when he eats tuna) it's like a baby smell. One of the lorikeets I had was a musk lorikeet, he smelt a little like cinnamon.

Hi,

Great looking Maxi - even though he is so young...

I have a White Capped Pionus - called Pi...

Welcome to another Pionus owner - it does not seem as if there are many of us about - we must be special to be owned by these lovely birds.

I love this forum.... Please send more pictures as Maxi grows...

Regards

Fi

whenever I visit my baby...[[white cap]] I just HAVE to smell him! He even had that beautiful smell when he was three wks old..and just had a couple of feathers...now that he's got more feathers, I just smell him like he's a rose!!!!!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this! Laughing
I love the smell of my Grey too!
he's got a purdy one....
my other two don't really have that...my 'Tiel has a faint almost baby powder smell to him!!

I remember my Bronze Wing Adrion's smell as being musty, not musky!! It was not at all the "sweet" type of smell that a lot of Pi owners describe. My Cuban Amazon Terry gives off little 'puffs' of that same sour musty smell that comes from her head area when she's excited Laughing Other than that, her natural body odor is mild and good. My Red Bellied smells GREAT! Hard to describe, but just great. It is also a stronger smell than my other birds. I wonder if Senegals smell similar since they are related? I think it varies from bird to bird as well as species. My Eclectus doesn't have that good of a smell, but a little better after a bath.

What kind of smell does Apollo have? Starion at first smelled like cooked peas, but I found she was just dirty Laughing Now, she doesn't have a smell.
