Are they popular in other parts of the world? Just curious..

Hi Sue,

I dunno if they are popular or not, but you do not see/hear about that many of them being homed???

I wonder if it is because they are rather muted colours and you do not see the great colours that they have until the fly or stretch thier wings... LOL

Oh Sue - where have all the Pionus owners gone BOO HOO Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

Hi Fi,
Don't worry about it.. I think you're not the only 'lonesome specific bird' owner on this board. Smile Ok given the usual cockatiels, lovebirds, sennies, macaws and the never ending flock of Amazon owners... there are quite a few that are all by themselves too... Well there's vis and his rosellas... Greg and his Mylo... and ummm yeah, I can't think of anymore currently.. hehe... oh and me and Apollo!! hehe.. kidding.. i know there are other cockatoos within the board.. Just being silly.

anyway, we are all here for ya... pi or no pi.. Smile Love ya mate. and don't forget those pics... your's the only one around@!!! LOL...

Now did I make you feel better or worse?

hehe

Take care
Bih

I dunno whats wrong with everyone - why has'nt everyone got a Pionus!!

They are great (well Pi is being a pain in the bum at the moment - hence not many photos) I think that he/she is coming up to the terrible 2's...

Although he is now fully flighted and may be getting a bit aggressive??

What do you all think that I should do - do you reckon that I should get
him/her clipped...

Fi

Hi fionam, your Pi is soo lovely Very Happy ! You're not the only Pionus lover here! Before I got a Senegal(Bo Bo), I was actually madly in love with Blue headed pionuses(I was so mesmorized by their cute big dark eyes and mellow personality). I spent almost a month(in Jan/Feb 2006) looking for local breeders/parrot stores that have Pionuses but only found one. Unfortunately they jacked up the price(way beyond my budget) because they seemed to be the only place that had one available. I also contacted other breeders that are more than 5hr away driving distance, but they all told me "we just set up the nest...please check back on us..." eventually I started to look at other types of parrots and found Bo Bo. I really think Pionuses are not as common because of the availability(breeding seasons) not because people don't love them =) we do!

Yeah,

I know that Pi is a star!!! - He is havin great fun tormenting the new Dog in the house (Pip is a greyhound) I suppose that I will have to let them sort it out for themselves - But Pi seems to heat Pip!!!

Pionus are so great - love playing by themselves but also love their quality time with you...

I will have to get some more photos of him...

I think that you are right - you never see them for sale...

Hi,

Sorry, I don't have a Pionus, but sure I will!

I will wait a few years until I can offer the best home for one, two or more Pi.

Now I just look for informations on Pi on the web, the more difficult is to choose a species especially because I have a lot of time to think about it, the more I think the less I can choose.

I hope you find some pi owners. It makes me feel a little lonely that none one else has a fiery-shoulder conure, they mostly have flashy aratingas and other pyrrhuras... But at least I have other sennie and budgie owners to talk to!

I bet some pi owners will come along too...they are such great birdies...small and quiet...

Hey Idea ! I know some people at my bird club that have pis!!!! One breeds duskies and the other has a white cap!!! Maybe I'll ask them to join?
