I dont know that either is "best" I hear more females tend to be aggressive during hormons --- and then I hear its males!
It really depends on your bird Id say. I wouldnt adopt or buy a bird on sex alone. Although for obvious reason's I do like male's ONLY because I cant stand to see one of My females lay - I get to nerves! |

In the Pionus, males are the dominant sex, so unless a female is guarding eggs, she should be gentle for the most part if she is a well adjusted tame pet. Either one though... Pionus are typically more mild mannered than other medium or large parrots. They are a good choice.
