| Aimee & Tim OK Now |

I think Tim seems to be getting used to Aimee being here now as hopefully he seems to have stopped attacking her. I've been watching him carefully when he's out of his cage and will always have to and I make sure Aimee is by my side so I can grab her if he takes off in her direction but he seems accept her more. I wonder if Senegals in the wild would attack other animals perhaps to defend their nests. A Belgian Shepherd seems rather large for a Senegal to tackle, it's a good job Aimee was so good natured about it. |

Honestly Julie, I think my sennie would attack anything, she seems to have no fear, at least not fear of Manu the macaw! She doesn't fly tho, so it's not been a problem - YET!
I'm glad to hear that Tim is getting more used to Aimee. Hopefully, he'll eventually come just take Aimees presence in "his house" for granted |

we have an Old English Sheepdog, and from day one Focker has had no fear of him ... the dog was quite curious about him, and Focker never missed a chance to lunge at the dog whenever he got too close ... if Focker gets down on the ground Boogie will just get up and move, although I am always keeping an eye on them .... Focker likes to bug the dog, and he never misses a chance to throw his food or toys at the dog, and of course, Boogie will eat whatever Focker throws down, and steal his foot toys every chance he gets ... I think if you just give it time and keep your eyes on both of them, things will work out ... Boogie is very jealous of Focker, and they both always seem to want my attention at the same time .... I'm just waiting for the day that Focker starts BARKING ... |

Thanks for the replies, the interesting thing for me is the difference between the hand reared sennies and Tim who was wild caught and rescued. He couldn't fly when I first got him and was very malnourished. Luckily he doesn't like going on the floor. It's taken a long time to tame Tim, I've had him since Feb. 2000 and he's very loving to me and he's nervous of my Hahn's Macaw Mischief, and that's why I was so surprised when he attacked Aimee. Parrots are just so unpredictable but for me that makes them so interesting and fun to have. Every time there's been a breakthrough with him it felt so great. I think he's about 15 years old and in the mornings when I first go to his cage he's so affectionate fluffing up his feathers and being kissy is just such a good start to the day. |

I know of so many birds that bark and if we ever got one, that would probably be the FIRST thing they would do! lol
My friend's cockatoo would bark then closely followed by "Shut up, Rocko!" Rocko was the dog. |

Oh, never mind dogs, I have a watch cockatoo!! no seriously, he'll bark at any stranger (to Apollo that is) that walks in the house, like my parents dog does... it's hilarious!! My sister in law came over one day and Apollo started barking, and my sister in law started looking around the house and then she said as she looked, 'I didn't know you guys got a dog?!!?!?'... it was just too funny that we had to tell her it was the cockatoo!!! LOL
Julie... I glad to hear that Tim is settling in down with the attacking Aimee business. I'm sure overtime Tim will accept it even more. |

I think it's so funny when parrots imitate other animals, I thought my Hahns Macaw was making chicken noises a few weeks after I got her but I soon realised she was copying me laughing, now when I say you're funny to her she laughs. I had a rescued Goffins who now lives with my ex partner and when we got him we realised the only words he could say plainly were 4 letter ones, one day he was screeching incessantly and in exhasperation I went to his cage and loudly told him to be quiet, he said plain as day 'you b....... you f......off' hope nobody minds me quoting him. It's not what we taught him and thankfully the Vicar doesn't come to tea often |
