| Best place in the house to put a sennie cage? |
|
|
For the few days that I've had her, I've kept her in my room. Now my mom and stepdad want me to move Ana's cage out into the kitchen/dining room area. The thing is, I'm afraid she'll get attached to one of them and I move from each parents house every two weeks so I don't want Ana to get attached to someone who isn't going to be there all the time. What's the best things to do in this situation? Keep the cage in my bedroom or move her to the kitchen/dining room area? |

Does she move with you every 2 weeks?
Either way, I don't think it'll hurt to have her out with the family more. It's my opinion that she really does need the socialization, just to be a better adjusted, more adapting bird, which in the long run with make her less likely to have behavioural problems later in her life. |

why would you want to keep her in a room by herself when you aren't around ... think of how boring that is, would you like it ? ... I would move her into an area, where like Cathy says, she can be socialized and have some company, instead of being alone ... the more socialization she gets, I honestly think the happier she will be, and in the end she will be a better bird ... |

When I read what you said it seems that your little sennie would be going with you every 2 weeks and I think that the other replies you had are exactly right. Parrots are birds that live in flocks in the wild and are not meant to spend lots of time alone. The best thing would be for you to gently get her used to all the people she will be coming into contact with which will help her to become well adjusted and adaptable. I know that you want her to love you best which is understandable but if she moves with you, you will be the constant person in her life. Parrots can develop problems like feather plucking through boredon etc. when left alone and bored. Your little bird will be a lot happier and she will find her life more fun if you help her to expand her knowledge of the world in a kind and loving way. |
