Hi
How well does this breed of parrot do with friends, and if so what is the best breed to combine with this breed. My Petey is quite lonely and im thinking that a friend will be a good idea. Petey is 2.5 yrs old, so please let me know if anyone has any idea... |

Boy, I don't really know what to tell you. I think sennies can be pretty agressive birds to other birds, even much larger species. But then again, I do know someone who has a B&G macaw & it & the sennie get along fine.
I guess it's never a guarantee that any 2 birds will live happily together, but they can still be in the same home, seperate cages & come to live happily together.
I've got a B&G macaw, a 'tiel & a sennie that live in seperate cages in the same room & they make bird noises to each & I think they provide each other company, & even tho they're very seldom in their cages, they don't have any close contact with each other as none of them fly. |

Well, I wasn't much help I'm afraid. I read your other post obout Petey seeming to be depressed. Some times a new toy is all it takes, or how about a play gym, does he have some place he can play away from his cage?
I know it's worrisome when we're trying to figure what's up with our fids, as we all want the best for them & want them to be happy! |

Well, another fid just might be your answer. You would have to have another cage for the new one at first anyway, to keep it quarantined at first & only time would tell if you could keep them together eventually. But, like I said, even if they can't end up in the same cage together, they could still have each other to see & hear while you're away. |
