Don't hate me for this folks but I have the possibility of re-homing Pico. I had been talking to the local parrot specialists who I got my other birds from. They are fantastic and all their birds are amazing as they come from the very best breeders, they don't take birds from just anyone. They know Pico well as they had him tested for me and clip his wings. They know how hard I have tried and have found a breeder who will take him in her aviary, she doesn't want to breed him as she has her breeding birds and again is very selective in terms of the birds nature etc. However she is happy to have Pico and my feeling is that he would be better in an aviary with other sennies. I have tried everything and have come to the conclusion that he is just not really a people person in spite of my efforts. I am upset about it and will be really sorry to see him go but I don't think he is happy here, he seems such an angry bird. I would never have let him go to just anyone so think this is perhaps an opportunity I should not refuse. I think he would be happier having more freedom. My other two are so much more contented and are no problem at all, seeing how happy they seem to be has highlighted how unhappy Pico seems. They play with toys, Pico tries to kill his!!!

I can understand what you've been going through. Sad I think birds are a lot like people and sometimes no matter what you do or try they just flat out don't like you. Sometimes rehoming is the right choice for all. We rehomed our little Sunshine(a parakeet) because she was flat out mean to Snowball our other budgie and she didn't want anything to do with us. Sunshine got a great home where she has become tame and rules the house. Smile A happy ending. It is, after all, about making the bird happy and healthy. Smile

Smile You have made the right decision for Pico. You tried but yet he was still very unhappy. There must be something he wants that you can't provide. You did a lot of research into Pico's future care, I know your heart is broken but it is for his happiness. You are very caring and unselfish for thinking of Pico's needs over your own. I hope Pico finds the happiness he deserves. Maybe you can still visit him in his new aviary home to see how he is doing. Good luck to you and to Pico.

Thanks for your support, I feel rotten about it and I feel a bit of a hypocrite too as I know a parrot is for life and know how some people don't know what they are taking on when they get a parrot. I wish I could get in side his little head to understand his problem better. I have thought long and hard about this and there was no way I would sell him because I dreaded the thought of his anti social behaviour meaning he could be confined to a cage all his life or worse moved around for ever more. It will be a few weeks until he goes as the breeder is delivering some babies around that time and I will meet her then. I have no doubts that he will be in good hands as the breeders the store uses are all carefully selected. All the birds are so well socialised like my other two and that to me is the sign of a caring breeder. I will be happy once I know he is happy and settled in. I will keep you posted. Thanks again Jo.

Nobody hates you Jo Comfort
You did what only you could decide to do. I may not have made the same decision, but becuz I'm not you, nor am I in your situation, I can't really say what I would have done.
But I can see that it wasn't an easy decision for you & you have obviously given this a lot of thought & you're doing what you truly think is best.
I do hope the best for both of you Very Happy

I'm just having a quick look in today at fluffies so apologise if I'm repeating what other people might have said but have you considered having him wingclipped, my birds aren't clipped but in the instance of having one of them flying at my face I would definately clip them, the other thing I would consider is getting him to step onto a hand held dowel or possibly using gardening gloves so that his bite couldn't dig so deeply into your hand, good luck.
