I have a question  Reply with quote

I bought my Kiwi (senegal) a few months ago. She is three years old and is the most loving cuddly thing ever! I am sooooo in love with her. My question is have any of you had any problems with aggression in your sennie? Last night I was sitting on the sofa and Kiwi was on my shoulder and would periodically jump off to sit on the arm rest of the sofa......well hubby came along and sat or I should say laid next to me....resting his head on my legs....Kiwi jumped off my shoulder and spread her wings apart and "chased" my hubby! Laughing Ok it was funny and I did laugh tho I think maybe I shouldn't have but it was just too funny! Have you had any of this behaviour? Are sennies a one person bird? My cag Sam is very bonded to me but has never gone after my husband like that.

I think they're known for being one person birds Tia.
No one but myself is able to handle Jennie YET, after about 3 months, but the only person I've seen her display that kind of aggressive behaviour toward is my son for some reason.

I hate to admit it, but I have to giggle under my breath everytime she "attacks" my son! It's just funny to see it! But, oh LORD! I know how HARD she can bite!!

Lol! Yeah I agree it is comical! Oh well I adore her. I am also used to my quaker, tiels and cag being very vocal....Kiwi does more chirping than anything. She is such a quiet bird, are they all this quiet?

You know, Jennie some times makes quite a bit of noise, when she's playing, when I'm showering her, when she's excited .... but it's not a real loud noise. It's just a really cute noise Very Happy

Whenever someone comes to our house tho, the 3 fids & the dog all let loose at one time, in all their different voises, & then she uses a real loud, grating voice Shocked

Hi Tia,

Well my Sennie, hated (and I mean hated) my hubby...

So prehaps Sennies are particulary one person birds...

I don't know if they're one person birds.. Iago surely isn't! He'd rather go with ANYONE. I bet if someone would take him, he'd be just as happy! Mad
He thrives in people's attention..
He is only agressive when I'm nervous.. Very nervous, then he warns me with his eyes pinpointing, stretching his neck.. I know I have to watch out then.

Hmmm guess I will have to be sure that hubby is not too close when I am handling her.

Focker will still go to both my husband and me ... he won't go to anyone else, although when we first got him he would .... hopefully he will continue to let both of us handle him .... I have heard that they can be one person birds, so I guess I will consider myself lucky ... although who knows how long my luck will last *L* ...

One person birds Mesa? Well I think Iago hasn't read the manual 'How to be a Senegal parrot'! Shocked
He loves EVERYONE! Especially blonde girls. I'm sure he'll just go with anyone. Anyone is more interesting than me! Crying or Very sad

I don't know how you've done that with Iago so well Sue. Jennie doesn't attack people, except my son!, but she doesn't let anyone else touch her, she bites if they try, which no one even tries anymore Crying or Very sad
But, becuz she bit me so DARN hard when I first got her, I actually told everyone they couldn't touch her!
