Hello everyone!

I'm very happy with my little Kouki... he never bites me, even when he's angry, he turns around and let me scratch his belly and purrs in my ear.

Unfortunately, he dislikes everyone else.
Even people he lives with. He will bite anyone that tries to touch him, even my mother who feeds and talks to him all the time - except if he's in the mood of being petted, so he'll simply let her scratch his neck and then turn and bite her....

Although he is curious and may watch visitors and even stand on their finger, there is simply no way anyone else can touch him.

Is there anyone who knows how and if he can become a bit milder with strangers? I've heard that african parrots are generally much like that but maybe things can be a bit better?

Hi Vis.. Do you think he sees you as his partner? If so, I'd withdraw a bit and scratch him a little bit less. Very Happy
I think people have to respect that he doesn't want to be petted by everyone. We also choose our favorites, those who we allow to get intimate with us.
However, I think that it's important to have him finger (or stick?) trained. Very Happy Perhaps your mum can take him on a tour through the house on her sleeve? I think he'll like that. Being around and looking what she's doing. Very Happy

I don't know if he sees me as a partner. How can I tell?

If by "finger trained" you mean stepping up, he already does that, even when others ask him to step up (except if he's on his cage, where he won't listen to people he doesn't recognise or people he dislikes).

He is usually more cooperative when I am absent for long periods of time (for example, on vacation) and he becomes more aggressive when he is left outside the cage for very long.
