Another weird sound that Tilda makes sounds like this: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR or Rolling your R's when you are speaking. When he does this his pupils dilate and he seems to get very excited and happy.
Anyone else heard this sound?

I don't know if I've heard Jennie make the kind of noise you're talking about or not. Jennie makes all kinds of wierd, very cute & funny sounds I love hearing her go on & on!
Maybe Tilda is trying to mimic some kind of noise she is hearing at your home. |

I think the funniest noise is kind of like a little duck noise, I think it's a noise specific to sennies, but I'm not sure. She does it when she gets excited & I LOVE to hear it
I'll try to record it some time. |

My little sennie Tim makes the rrrrrrrrr noise when I'm talking to him and he's feeling affectionate, he mixes it with other noises and little whistles when I get him out of his cage, usually he's opening and shutting his beak rapidly and wiggling his tongue also, I love it when he does that. |

My sennie makes the duck sound too! To me it sounds like a blue jay!
I just love the sounds he comes up with. I always wonder if they are sennie specific sounds or if he is picking them up from the radio, TV, or outside birds .... |

I love the sounds they make too. When I first had Tim I did a lot of research about Senegals because he was so traumatised and I read somewhere that in the wild their sounds can differ a according to which area they come from, a bit like regional accents. Tim was wild caught and he has a wider range of whistles and other sounds than Cheeky the hand reared Sennie although Cheeky imitates household sounds much more. |

Oh, that's so wierd that they would have regional "accents" so to speak Very interesting! I guess it does make sense. It makes sense too that wild caughts & housed birds would make different noises. Never thought about it before. |

I think that 'accent' applies to all birds.
for example, my budgies.. when they first come to live with me, the new ones tend to have calls/sounds/noise that are different to those that are already there, but overtime you get used to the different noise and they pick up each other's call over time, so they all sounds the same after. But i have noticed that different calls different birds have.
And also my mom's rainbow lories, they have two very distinct calls, though both are handreared they still call out differently. Ruyi has a higher pitched called, where as JiShiang has a lower pitched and also a more 'wavey' kinda call, not a 'smooth one tone' call like RuYi does. Though now both call out to each other in the other's call. It's very cute. |

That's interesting about the budgies and lories too, I know Mischief my little Hahn's joins in conversations when I'm speaking to someone, she babbles away using similar tones although she's not making distinct words, Goffey the Goffins does the same thing and he moves his wings and feet about too like we do when we gesticulate when talking. I suppose in their eyes they're using the language of the flock. Mischief does use distinct words also at other times. |

Ha ha, that's so funny that Goffey goes thru the whole hand motions How CUTE that must be to see! The only hand motions Manu does is to scratch his head, or to step up! |

It is funny Cathy, I think it's a Goffins thing, also he's interested in anything mechanical and he's a real Houdini and has to have anything that opens on his cage padlocked when he can't be out and about. |
