How much does your sennie weigh?
10 month old Jennie weighed in at 114 grms today. Is that a bit on the small side? I'm not sure for her age. |

Good question! My Sennie Iago (Age 7 years old) weighs 135-140 grams.
I've heard about other Sennies being Jennie's size.
Perhaps this would be a fun poll to do with both the Dutch and English forum? |

Hmmm ... Jennie is awful little, but she don't look "thin". She hasn't been for a check up since shortly after I got her., & she has gained a bit since then. But she certainly has never looked or seemed sickly. |

Cathy,
Birds are just like people.... Some of us are thin and some are not so thin....
I have a GW, she is suppose to be the biggest thing around (Hycina). So what does she weigh in as 1020 grams. Your B&G is 1250.... Isn't it suppose to be the other way around....But I don't think anything of it, I know that Ann is just a small bird, where Manu is not fat he is just big. I have personaly seen Scarlet's weighing at lest 1400 or better, they were big birds.
The important thing to remember is does her weight change, up or down. But mostly down if thier is a problem they will start droping weight. We weigh our birds at lest once a month (at the same time of day, before they eat in the morning) and put thier weights in a book. If we notice any change or if we take approiate action. Weigh them more offten if you are worried about something. Amy our Red lored will weight 480 to 520 grams, depending on the season.
I hope this helps....

Thanks John & Carrie! I do worry about their weights I'm sure more than I should.
I don't have a scale myself. I bought one at one time, but it just didn't work for the birds. I have GOT to order one on line I guess.
Maybe she is just going to be a smaller than average sennie. It's really not for lack of eating well, honestly. |

WOW! Focker is a good sized sennie. I do believe males will weigh more than females.
WT range is wide in all types of birds; of my 2 tiels, Kacey the female age 1 1/2yrs weighs 100.6 grms, whereas Maxi the male soon to be 14yrs on aug 25th, weighs only 77.3 grms. the vet wasn't worried about Maxi as his lowest wt was 75 grms. He is just a runt of a tiel. My Digger ran about 86-89.5 grms.
So the range of wts in all birds will vary considerably depending on their size and build. Very much like people. |
