| What do you play with, with your Sennie. |

Pico loves to play throwing games with his ball or rolled up kitchen roll and I try to catch them. I wondered if any of you have interactive games you play? We also have little beak fights, his beak and my fingers sort of gently grappling (a bit like when you tickle someone) with his beak, he likes the silly noise I make when we play this too. I started doing this when he was playing a bit rough one day, bit of a risk because he may well of taken this as a reason to bite even harder but he hasn't, although not recommending it, it has stopped him being nippy, If he looks like he's going in for a nip I just say 'Wanna beak fight?' and we play it for a short while and he is fine then. Seems to get him out of a mood. |

Great, I am glad you found one of the beauitful things that makes parrots so speical. Each and every one of our birds enjoys playing with us as well, each has thier own unique way. I think that Ann our Green Wing Macaw, plays more like a human child then all the others. It is hard to explain, but when we play with our dogs, they inter act with us but they don't really seem to know, where as a parrots, they know what they are doing. I think only another bird person would truly understand the meaning behind that.

Well, I play several games with Iago.
(Perhaps tricks?)
Please see this page: http://www.fluffies.org/en/flu.....try_id=556
We're now busy puzzling and he loves doing that. He gets the point but still has difficulties putting the shapes into place.. (Ah well.. I can't say I have to complain, I have practiced about 6 times or so) |

How right you are, parrots are so different from any other pet. I know exactly what you mean about dogs, I have a dog too and it is quite a different thing. Parrots make their own decisions whereas dogs look to us to tell them what to do. If Pico doesn't like something I know about, it but the dog accepts anything. Until I had Pico I hadn't thought about it even though I have been around my aunts amazon for years. I worry about what people do to birds now as I know how complex they are and how much of a huge responsibilty it is to have one. Thanks you two on the advice on the grey pages as well, greatley appreciated. |
