My name is Summer Sunshine
I am a Cockatiel
I am female, I think
I don't know if I am left or right pawed
I don't know my hatchday
I was adopted on Sunday February 17, 2008

The things that I eat (my likes & dislikes):

Mostly pellets, greens, some fruit (chopped into really tiny pieces), millet sprays and sunflower seeds as treats. =)

What does my house (cage) look like:

She's currently living in a small cage (i'm still looking for a bigger one) which I feel is really inadequate so she's let out to play when I'm home. She has a whole "jungle" thing on top of her cage which is made from branches and a huge piece of wood (the kind they put in aquariums). I add her greens in between the branches sometimes to keep her stimulated.

My personality can be described as:

She's actually more attached to my sister than me.. =( I feel really unappreciated sometimes, but I guess that's her choice..

She's happy to stay on our arms when we watch TV and is mostly calm, but gets twitchy and irritated when we stroke her.

She hates my rabbits and tries to attack them whenever she's near them. Ironic really. She's so tiny compared to them, but she still wants to attack them. (My rabbits are super mellow and tame by the way) She nearly blinded my rabbit once!

Oh, and she loves to steal their hay. She does this slow inching movement towards the hay, then scurries off when she gets it. It's quite funny really.

The toys I have (my likes and dislikes):

I bought her quite a few toys, but she's always too scared of them to go near. =X

She prefers chewing hay and sticks.

The sounds that I make (and the words I speak):

Surprisingly, she only squeaks (sounds like it anyway) when we come home, when it's dinner time and when she wants to be put to bed. Other than that, she rarely makes any noise.

(Am I supposed to be worried?)

Something special about me:

She was given to me when she was a month old by my Dad's friend and sadly, she's got quite a few problems. First of all, she has lutino baldness. That's not so bad, though I worry that she might injure it somehow because there's virtually no protection. Secondly, she has a slightly deformed leg which I suspect is spraddle leg. When she was younger, she would not use that leg and the muscle difference between the two thighs was pretty obvious.

I had to do some "home-made physiotherapy" for her by training her to grip tightly with her foot by putting her on my finger and waving it slowly. Her natural reflex was to grip really tightly when she felt she was losing her balance and slowly, she put on some muscle mass and began using that leg.

Then, when she was slightly more than two months old, I had to go overseas on a school trip. She didn't remember me when I came back nine days later! I was pretty devastated at that time, but I knew I couldn't blame her.

So to me, she's a really special little bird. I love her very much. (Even though it's mostly a one-sided thing)
