My name is "Oliver"
I am a Eclectus Parrot
I am male
I am right pawed
Friday December 12, 2008 is the day I hatched out
I was adopted on Friday March 20, 2009

The things that I eat (my likes & dislikes):

He eats:

  • Spinach
  • Grated Apple (no seeds)
  • Grated Carrot
  • Peas & Beans

His Favourite:

  • Corn on the cob
  • Corn pieces

But he just LOVES popcorn! (no salt or butter, steam cooked in microwave without oil)

What does my house (cage) look like:

Oliver has a huge Macaw cage but he spends most of his time in the rest of our house (under supervision of course).

He goes to bed in his Macaw cage after a big snuggle with me on the couch at night and he wakes up around 9am - very decent I think.

My personality can be described as:

Oh my gosh! Oliver is a little darling. He seems to be very happy and eager to please. He LOVES sitting on the window sill chatting to the local birds and he'll do this for hours. He lets me know when my hubby comes home with a screech that sounds a lot like a crow. He likes to fly but he hasn't mastered it yet  and he's learnt not to bite, which is great. Occasionally he'll 'warn' me when I do something he doesn't like with a pretend-to-bite but he doesn't actually make contact. When I say "No" he stops in his tracks. Sometimes if I'm patting him where he doesn't want me to, he'll grab my finger (gently) and move it off him which is just gorgeous because he's being really polite about it. He's almost saying "Hey, I don't want to hurt you but I don't want you to do that right now".

I couldn't have asked for a better parrot. He's really smart.

The toys I have (my likes and dislikes):

He has some natural fibre hanging toys with different shaped wooden btis to play with and chew on.

He has a foot toy with plastic beads and leather straps.

I'm currently waiting on the coil swing to show up in the mail, it's the really huge one that I'll hang from the ceiling.

He has natural rope that I hang in his playroom

I'm also waiting on the large shower perch which i'll use on the window when he's not using it in the shower.

And of course, he has me!

The sounds that I make (and the words I speak):

Actually he's quiet as a mouse really. He does chatter a bit to himself at times but it's not loud. You can easily forget that he's there!

He does have a loud screech that sounds to me like a crow but he only makes that noise when my husband comes home in the car. (So far anyway)

I'm only a baby and I've already learnt to "wave" on command and also I say "WOW"

I'm trying to say "I love you very much" but I can only get the rhythm of the sounds not the actual words just yet. But I bet I surprise my mum by saying it one day soon. Might get some popcorn!

Something special about me:

I wave for popcorn and I can spin around 360 degrees. I can put my foot toy away when I'm done with it and I let mum know when Dad gets home.
