My name is Connie (AKA Connie Conure)
I am a Green-cheeked Conure
I am male
I am left pawed
I don't know my hatchday
I was adopted on Saturday April 15, 2000

The things that I eat (my likes & dislikes):

Connie eats anything!!

But, he begs and pleads --- rocks back and forth and nods up and down (you know, that conure head bob), bangs on the cage, etc. for CHEESE!!

He will also beg for food (people food, of course) and then when you give it, he drops it on the bottom of the cage.  I guess its a game of "let's see if I can get mommy to do what I want her to --- hee hee hee"

If I don't put it on top of his bowl (it has a cover over it or he makes a HUGE mess -- he digs through it and throws the pellets everywhere --- no reason, just fun, I guess) --- If I don't put the treat/food on top of his bowl and just give it to him, 80% of the time he'll just drop it into the cage tray and then later go digging around for it --- or not.

 Stinker!!!

What does my house (cage) look like:

My personality can be described as:

Connie is a stinker!!

He will try to bite when you go to get into the cage --- great fun,  the 'Bite The Human Game' - even thought I don't give a drama reward (reaction) -- somehow, it is still a wonderfull game.

He loves to imitate my laugh, so everytime I laugh, Connie laughs too.

The screaming, though.  Green Cheeks are supposed to be of the quieter genus of Conures --- not Connie --- he learned to scream from the ringnecks!!!

Also, Connie LOVES Bella, his next door neighbor.  Bella is a Pacific Parrotlet hen.  She used to be a little better about liking Connie -- he loves to visit her cage, but she is a little temperamental these days.  I think it is just hormones, though.

I should have named him Houdini.  He is a true escape artist.  He loves to stick his head through the bars of his cage and wiggle his head at me.  Dork!  I have to keep quick locks on the doors.  You have to be careful unscrewing them -- he likes to bite you while you do it.  Stinker.

He is....a true STINKER and a HOUDINI, but he's mine.

The toys I have (my likes and dislikes):

Connie doesn't care for swings, but loves bells and things he can bang around.  He snuggles in one of those fuzzy things you tie to the side of the cage.

Connie sleeps in a plastic slinky hung from the top of the cage.

He likes to chew wood, but isn't a voracious chewer like my ringnecks. He likes toys he can swing around and bang against things, and again....Bells!!

The sounds that I make (and the words I speak):

A medium amount --- not like a too or a macaw, but is comparable to a Sun Conure.  These guys are supposed to be quieter, but not when they learn to scream from Indian Ringnecks!!

Sometimes I threaten to put him outside --- or to bake & eat him (ha ha), but of course, it never happens.  The ringnecks in my front room are noisier or comparable, anyway.

He does seem to scream every so often for just no reason at all --- not just in the AM or PM --- go figure.

He talks --- says various things, laughs in my laugh --- cusses (yes, I taught him --- not on purpose).

You have to know what you are listening to to understand his words.  I am not even sure if my husband can understand him, but my daughter and I can!!  They aren't super clear talkers.

Something special about me:

His personality is special.  But then again, maybe I'm just mom.

Each bird has it's own personality and so, I think that make every bird special in its own way.
