A summary of the life of: Chirpy

My name is Chirpy

I am a Peach-fronted Lovebird

I am female

I don't know if I am left or right pawed

The things that I eat (my likes & dislikes):

She eats seed mix, grit, greens (she likes carrot, seeding grasses, wild oats, occasionally lettuce) and she will attempt to eat whatever I am eating though I dont usually let her (not unless it is salad or fruit.) She likes apples as well.

What does my house (cage) look like:

She has her cage which is about a foot and a half square but she comes out for exercise and cuddles as often as I can manage it.

My personality can be described as:

She is cheeky, but so clever. She thinks she is a person (or that Im a bird) as she tries to do things that I do. Once she even tried building something out of lego after watching me doing it. She put one piece on top of another one and got really cranky when they wouldnt stick together. She gets jealous when I spend time with my other animals and she loves to snuggle and 'feed' my fingers. I tried getting her a mate once when she was younger but she nearly bit the poor thing's toe off so I guess she doesnt like other brids.

She knows exactly how to get my attention and has different signals for what she wants/needs. If its food, she flicks her food bowl up and down. If she wants out, she sits on her food bowl and puts her head down and towards the door. If she wants to be covered, she goes into her nest box and makes little short, squeaky chirps.

She is my baby and she knows it.

The toys I have (my likes and dislikes):

She has a set of plastic rings, a set of plastic balls with bells in them, a ladder, and a toy with lots of keys hanging off it. She bangs the key toy when she wants me to talk to her and not the other pets. She uses her ladder. For the most part she will ignore the other two toys unless she is cranky and then she un-hooks them and flings them on the floor. She absolutely adores paper! Its her favourite and she methodically chews it into tiny strips.

The sounds that I make (and the words I speak):

She doesnt talk with words but she becomes very vocal if we are not focussing on her when we are near her. At most other times she is fairly quiet.

Something special about me:

Her nest box is a new addition and a complete hit! She loves it!
