I was in the aviary earlier, and was fussing about when I noticed two little brown speckled eggs in the quail's box!! I got really excited.. I am now hoping that Mama will sit on the eggies.. fingers cross everyone that I'll have little fluff ball running around soon. hehehe.. |

Thanks Sue. I'm hopeful that Mama will sit on them. King quails are known to lay but not sit on their eggs, so I'll just have to wait and see what Mama does. I'm hoping for the best.. hehe. |

Hopefully your quail will! |

Thanks Cathy, and yes it was a real surprise.. I was so very excited when I saw them!! Especially the night before I was just saying they are not ready for egg yet, and all this while I've got eggs sitting in my aviary!! |

Yeah, for some reason, some quails just doesn't know how to nest!! I don't know if she will or not, but apparently they sometimes lay a lot of eggs first then choose to only sit on some.. who knows. weird creatures... May be Greg can shed some light on this since he had those King quails before. |

That's strange!! I never heard of these things.. Why that much effort if you only want to sit on one? I mean, producing eggs is very very hard I think! |

Not sure why, but I have noticed all the scattered eggs at bird shops and then there are little nests of eggs around as well.. I think the scattered eggs have been ignored... then again, I've also heard of someone's quail laying a whole nest of eggs to then cover it up with dirt to start over again before she sat down on those newly laid eggs. Who knows, just some strange birds... hehe. |

That is wierd! But I'm sure nature has it's own reasoning behind it! |

Strange very true, but they must have a reason behind it...
Just a quick update, there's now three eggs.. Except mama laid the third egg out of the box. hmmmm, I really don't understand these quails...... |

Third egg out of the box? That's sad.. Can't you lay it in there? Or doesn't that make sense? |

Well I've now got six eggs, but she kinda stopped laying eggs about a week ago, so I don't think she'll be laying eggs again for alittle while. I have a feeling it's because of the budgies being so nosy, and is constantly scaring the quails which is why she isn't sitting. |

Ohhh so sorry to hear that it's probably because of the nosey budgies. Do they bother her a lot? |
