Oh Bih,
I am so sorry to hear that your nasty Budgies have done the babies in...
I hope that the one baby thrives...

thanks ladies.
the little one is going alright. seems to be ok with mama and papa in their new home. I was afraid that they might fret a little and forget about the kid, but it seems that they haven't, so I'm happy about that.
here's hoping all things would be ok from here for them. |

thanks Sue.
I didn't think they can be so cruel either, but I guess that's all part of nature.
I have also added a quick clip of the little quail learning to forage for food. I had purposely put the food on the floor so the baby can learn to peck at it. here's the clip...

John, glad you loved it... the budgies are loud aren't they?!?!
Sue, yes, they can run very fast hours after they hatched... when there were six of them three days ago, I tried catching them all, and it took me awhile to get them all into the food container I was holding. they are little speedy gonzalez.. |

well you know John, considering the size differences between budgies and macaws, I think they would give the macaws a run for their money if their size were enhanced to a macaw's size!! lol.. I wouldn't want to have 21 of them for sure.. (that's how many I have now... )
I think they are not 'loud' in the decibel sense... but they sure can chatter up a storm and we're talking non stop chattering from these tiny creatures.. they are 'noisy'.. I think it's the word for them.. |

Yes, they can be chate, I here that they make some of the best talkers, but my experence with them is limited, Oh by the way, I would not want to run across a Budgie that weighed in at 1200 grams, much less 21 of them, that would take more courge then I have....

Cheeta, I'm sooo sorry for the babies you lost, but that little survivor is an absolutely adorable little ball of fluff!! Loved the pictures and video.

Well it's happened again. my single surviving baby has been pecked to death by the dad because he wanted to mate again. Mama wouldn't allow that unless the baby is gone. so now the baby is gone.
I know this because I can see that the two adults have been fighting and getting into each other. There are feathers everywhere!!!
Not happy.. I think I may seperate all my male and female quails now so I don't have to go through the heartache of loosing babies.
Here's a photo of the little one that I took yesterday evening.
RiP little one.
He looks so healthy and good looking too. he's even getting this adult flight feathers. You can just see the feathers coming in in the pic...
