My QP has started biting . She is 9 weeks old and she seems to hate everybody. Any suggestions on how to get her to stop. |

When my Emmie started doing that I would just say no biting in a stern voice and quickly put her in her cage and walked away. She hated that as her favorite place to be was on me! She loves to have her beak stroked too so when she would get nippy I would gently hold her beak and tell her no biting....now she warns me! Before she wants to bite she will say no biting! I've learned to move quick.....haven't been bit since she started this! Let me know how you do! |

Hi, is it really biting, or nibbling? Nibbling (exploring) might hurt as well!
Birds start to explore things with their beaks, yet they can forget that it can hurt! |

I agree with Fluffy Sue. My QP nibbles me all the time, and sometimes it hurts a bit, but that's just how parrots are. If the problem really is biting, then try to teach your parrot that you aren't afraid of it. If it's anything like my parrot, being left behind in its cage is a punishment, so if a stern voice doesn't work, then teach it that biting means cage. Good luck! |
