| Penn's update |
|
|
I had to put the E collar back on little Penn today. There is blood on his one leg where he started chewing it again. I hated doing that to him as he was doing so well. Luckily I still have plenty of the medicine doctor Bob prescribed last time. At least I caught it before it was both legs... He was a real trooper about getting the collar on. I was able to get it on him myself.........either that or I am just getting better at it....from having to put it on over and over and over again.

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear that he's started chewing again
Since I have no clue about the use of those collars, do you have any idea how long he might have to use it? Or I guess it's probably something you just have to wait & see, huh?
The little guy, give him a hug for me & big thoughts of encouragement! |

Cathy we have been through this numerous times with Penn. Now we just put on the collar and use the medicine to help heal then when it is healed I take the collar back off. He does real well with the collar on as he is used to wearing it. Maybe a couple of weeks this time as he didn't do too much damage yet. Thanks for the comment and I will be sure to give him a scritch from you.

I'm so sorry to hear this Carrie.. It must be heart breaking.. Do you have any clue what could have triggered this? Can it be hormonal? |

I don't think it's hormonal as it happens more than once a year. Our vet said it could be any number of things with Quakers as they are often prone to having alergic reactions to a lot of things. I think what happens is his elbows(that is what he walks on) get sore and he starts biting at it and it exscalates. That's just my opinion. I'm not sure what else we can do for him. Under his papers there is two layers of padding plus on top of the paper I make him little quilted fluffy things to rest on. I think it is just a problem we will have to deal with always. It also could be pschological. We will never know for sure. Thanks Cathy and Sue for your caring.
