| PLEASE READ! IMPORTANT: VIRUS!! |
|
|
People who have worked on/ updated their homepage or diary in the last 32 hours may have been infected with a virus.
Reason is that hackers hacked into this site!
Please update your virusscanner and scan your entire computer. Also, please throw away ALL temporary internet files as there might be a reference to the virus there.
I hope no one's computer got damaged..
I want to apologize for any damage that has occurred.. |

Thanks for the warning Sue! I've already scanned my computer & all is OK except for tons of PUPs which I deleted!
So, is it safe to update now? |

You're welcome Cathy..
I feel bad that the computers of the fluffies users were put at risk with this.. I have fixed the leak to prevent this happening again.
It's safe to update again. I just tried to and all is ok. The infected files are thrown away. |

Fi, I am so glad that you weren't infected. Did you also throw away the temporary files? |

Hi Sue!
I scanned my computer the same night that I was trying to make my diary page, and I found 4 viruses on my computer. I deleted them. What do you mean by temporary internet files? |

Shirin,
What sort of computer do you use? Apple or IBM compatible?
i don't know about Apple's computer, but with the other one, the system store up everything that you open into a temporary folder where you can delete all the files everynow and than. Basically, when you open a page on the net, it has to download all the information onto your computer so that you can view it, so then the computer put it all into one folder... 'internet temporary files' or something along that line. Let me know if you've got IBM compatible or not, and I can help you go through the process of getting them deleted. Cheers. |

hmmm XP... I haven't used that system in awhile... but let me take a jab at it!! LOL
Go into your c:/ drive..
Then go to 'documents and settings'
Then go into 'adminstrator' or which ever your main identity is.... you could have named it 'shirin' or something else....
Then go into 'Local Settings'
Then you should be able to see 'Temporary Internet Files'
Open it and delete all the files in there. You can delete the cookies if you want to. It won't really affect much except if you want it to remember say like permanent log in say in photobucket or something like that. You just have to do it again that's all. Or like in Hotmail where it remembers your email address that was last put in.
I hope it made sense, and I hope it works. if it doesn't let me know where you got up to and what you see in that screen. Cheers. |

There may be an easier way to do it... though I can't totally remember how xp works.. but anyway.. here goes...
Go to your start menu or what ever it is that brings up all the programs list... Go to 'all programs' then 'Accesories' then 'system tool' then 'disk cleanup'.
Then you select 'C:/' wait for it come up with a list.. then click ok after you've selected the internet temporary files. You can even delete the 'temp' folder.
cheers
Bih.
Is this making sense? or am I even describing the right operating system?? hehe |
