I've been thinking about putting together some resorces for new too owners for some time now. It's still at the "idea" stage but I was thinking of a video or at least a book. I've noticed lot of the same questions keep coming up and there's not a lot of up to date info around that can be pulled off the shelf at the local pet store. I thought a good place to start would be talking to other too lovers to get an outline of the most common concerns and what worked for them before running it past an avian specialist. I was wondering if anyone was interested in taking part in the process of putting together something, I can't guarantee it will come to anything, there are a lot of technical and marketing hurdles to putting publications out there. If anyone is interested and it's appropriate for your forum, maybe they could post on the site under FAQ's. If anyone lives in or is visiting the Sydney area they could also contact me in person. |

I think that's a great idea Shells! As a new Too mommy, I would love it if there was more up to date information out there about cockatoos. Recently everything I read is just bad stuff, or unfortunate stories and every reason in the book why people shouldn't keep cockatoos as companion birds. Maybe if people were more educated about these beautiful creatures, then there wouldn't be so many cockatoos needing a new home, because their old owners couldn't take care of them any more.
