Help made mistake  Reply with quote

How do you remove a response or three LOL. Down below under the catagory (stores) my computer freaked out and printed my response four times. It said it wasn't going through. I hope this isn't a problem. Karen

I've made that same mistake elsewhere  Reply with quote

One of the things I like about this sight is that poeple don't freak out when we make a mistake. I have only owned a computer since November 30 and I had never been on line before so I was learning and am still learning how to work this thing.People with kids and computers have at least had a little experince but us who are 48 and no kids well it's a bit harder to figure this out. I was on another sight and my computer didn't act like it was posting my messafe and I think I must of hit it a couple of times. Well when I went back on there was my post 3 times and the readers sure let me know. I felt really bad and haven't written anything else there. i felt like I was being jumped on. So I hope we can make a few mistakes and hope we can learn how not to do them againg, butttttif we do I hope people will understand.

I know what you mean. Also I find that because we are new to those sites they don't seem to feel any of our info is valid or correct. It's a cyber clique. I'm almost 42 with kids and I just had my husband set this computer up at the beginning of September. My kids whould never teach me how to use it because it frustrated them. I'm getting the hang of it now. Karen

I agree  Reply with quote

Yes Karen I agree. I chat on another animal sight and those people get to posting back and forth and a new person comes in and when we ask questions it seems no one wants to be the one to answer "the new kids question". This sight seems not that way. I have had a lot of people post things to me and that's real nice of them. I'm new to raising my birds only had them for 3 years and I am really new to the computer world. I hope people remember that they were new to all of this too at one time. I may be new to the bird world but I believe that these birds teach us new things all the time. I can't help but type this and listen to my "Romeo". I'm in one room and he is in the other and he is talking up a storm. He knows good and well that I am listening to him and I answer him back. He's doing the newest sentences he's learned "Step up, step up, oh that's a good boy Romeo". Now where do you think he got that (ha). He listens to every word so I have to be careful what I say (ha)

I have to work the 3-11 tonight so I'll post tonight again. Thanks.

I thought I was the only one!  Reply with quote

Boy does it feel good to know I am not the only one that is new the computer world. A teacher at the college tried to tell me I needed a computer to pratice on when I took his class 2 years ago. Well 2 years later I will say I see why he said that. This stuff takes pratice. I did get the Windows and Wordperfect for Dummies and that is helping but I have to stop and look things up and that is awful Talk to ya later...

I also believe that birds will keep teaching us new things, but I also think that one is never done learning.
Over the years, parrot care has evolved.. But it's still in motion..
I think it is important to keep learning!

Your so right  Reply with quote

I can't believe how much I have learned from my birds they deserve much more credit than we give them.

The other day when I was sick all the day in bed my birds never made a sound, No one would have known that I had birds. It was like they knew that mama doesn't feel good so let's be quite so she can sleep.

When my 6 birds died on Dec.26 I was screaming "My birds , my birds, my birds and crying. Well a few days later I went out to the finch cage to clean and the other amazon that had been in the house at the time "Cleo" she was in her flight cage. Anyway I was listening to her and I started crying because she said "My birds, my birds, my birds.' She had remembered what I had said that day. I felt so sorry for her because on that day she lost her best friend Sunny

Sweet isn't it? When they don't make a sound when you're ill.. I think they really can feel how we feel.. And adapt themselves to it!

You lost 6 birds? How did that happen? I am so very sorry to hear this!

Lost 6 of my birds  Reply with quote

December 26th I thought I would get up and bake some cookies to take to work. I turned the oven on preheat and went and got in the shower. I came back just in time to here my poor sun conure "Sunny" make a crying sound. I looked in the cage and picked him up asking "What is wrong Sunny?" I thought maybe he broke a wing or something. Seconds later he cried again this time he died in my hands.

Of course I went all to pieces crying and upset. I called my boss and told her I wouldn't be in because I had lost my bird. She understood because she too has no childern just animals that are like our kids. Anyway I told her how the cockatiel "Buddy" was going to miss Sunny and the amazon Cleo and Sunny had bonded so what was she going to do without him also. Anyway I hung up with her and relized that I hadn't heard the cockatiel yell like he usually did when Sunny left the cage. I went and looked in the cage and there laid Buddy also dead.

I really went nuts and turned around screaming my birds my birds and looked over and saw my 2 finches and my 2 canieries dead. Then I remembered the gas stove was on. I ran over to the stove and turned it off. I had been in such a hurry that morning that I didn't close the door all the way on the oven and apparently enough gas leaked out to kill the birds.

I grabbed the 2 amazons and ran out the door with them. I came back in and opened all the windows. I knew that it had to be gas. The gas company came out and checked the stove and told me that it was only at a 4 and that was with all burners going and the oven. The highest is a 10. They checked it and found out there was nothing broken or anything like that. They just said because the door was ajar that enough gas had escaped to kill the birds.

So needless to say I have been very upset for the past few months knowing that if I had taken a bit more time I wouldn't have killed my birds. My heart is broken and no matter what birds I have now it still does not replace the birds that I loved so much and they are gone. It was the hardest t thing I have had to do in a long time and that is to bury 6 birds together. I have cried myself sick, I still cry and I guess I'll keep crying everytime I think about what I did.

Please everyone who reads this : Take extra time to make sure your oven door is closed all the way when you are cooking, I didn't and you've seen what can happen. I still have my stove and only use the burners as I cannot bring myself to touch the oven , it has too many bad memories of that morning. My husband wants me to get a electric stove and I will one day but I am having power put out at my avairy tomorrow so I have been saving money up for that. Maybe in a few months I will get a new stove, until then I just don't use the oven.
