It's Sveta. I am now thinking of a kakarikis. One problem, there is know forum If there is one of a dirrerent forum is available please tell me. |

They are close to the parakeet family (parakeet, not budgie) and they do better in aviaries. Personally IMHO, I think that some of the other species that you have thought about would make a better house pet

yes I would agree... Kakarikis are so cute, but I don't know what they are like as pets.. but I sure love their little sounds..  |

Thanks guys! But right now I'm set on a white-capped pionus at Greyhaven. I e-mailed them for an appointment. |

Excellent I think Pionus are the way to go for a first time "larger" bird. The females usually stay mellow and gentle after maturity. Generally speaking, I think that is the best choice so far. Pionus are so underrated! No other bird of their size is as generally mellow, quiet, and easy to deal with as a Pionus. I absolutely loved mine until she died

Ohhh Julie.. It's sad that your baby had to pass away so soon.
Pionus are quite rare as pets in the Netherlands.
I do know that kakarikis can be cute. Someone I knew had two of them. |

Thanks Sue...
Pionus aren't rare here, just not very popular. Even the ones you don't see too often still are reasonably priced cause there is just not much of a demand for them.
