Handy to teach

You can safely give your parrots these foods as a healthy snack next to its pellets or as food next to its seed. If your parrot won't from it now, he might eat it in a different time of year. Also, try to steam or cook the food. Be creative!
You can also offer this food after sampling it yourself. They usually think it's more interesting then. :-)

1
Broccoli. You can use the whole vegetable but the leafs are the most nutritious part, containing four and a half times as much vitamin A than the flowerette and 15 times than that of the stem.

2
Lettuce exept for iceberg as this one contains almost no nutritions.

3
Beets. Serve this raw. This veggie is very good for your parrot.

4
Cauliflower. Again you can use the whole vegetable.

5
Sweet and white potatoes. Please remove the eyes as they are poisonous. I always give this cooked, and my birds would do ANYTHING for a piece!
Potatoes should always be offered cooked.  If potatoes have been exposed to light for some time, they start to turn green and with the development of chlorophyl, solanine is formed. Solaline can be rapidly fatal if ingested in any quantity. Potatoes that are starting to sprout contain high levels of solanine as well, so please don't feed them!

6
Melons. Do remove the pits as from some melonspecies pits are poisonous.

7
Tomato. Please remove the leaves. I never got my parrots to eat this. I guess they just don't like it.

8
Carrots. Very high in vitamin A.

9
Corn, but only limited.

10
Watercress.

11
Cabbage and Brussell Sprouts.

12
Beans and peas. Zazu simply adores all kinds of beans but leaves the peas. When he has been eating beans his beak is all dirty and I have to whipe his beak clean.

13
Chicory.

14
Spinach.

15
Dandelions. These are highly nutritious! Dandelion greens contain an enormous amount of vitamin A and an amount of vitamin C (Not essential to birds) that can be found in two oranges!

16
Parsley.

17
Peppers. Iago loves this and he always wants a kiss when he has been eating this. He surely doesn't get any untill I have cleaned his beak else my mouth will burn! He likes to see me running to the tap, but I don't see the humor of it.
