Carolina Parakeet (Conuropsis carolinensis), now extinct.
The only native parrot of the United States, it was once common in the southeastern United States, but suffered from habitat loss and by the mid 1880's was considered rare. The last wild population was see in the early 1900's, and (like Martha the last Passenger Pigeon who died several years before) the last captive Carolina Parakeet died at the Cincinnati Zoo in 1918.
